Even though the apple harvest has ended here, luckily we can still enjoy these delicious fruits. This Marzipan Apple Pie compliments the season perfectly, as it is heavier and more voluminous than the classic summer versions. And with the combination of marzipan and cinnamon, you get just the right hint of Christmas. Enjoy!
Recipe
You will need:
Dough
• 100 g cold butter
• 150 g wheat flour
• 1 pinch of salt
• 2 tablespoons cane sugar
• 1 egg
Filling
• 350 g marzipan
• 3 eggs
• 1 teaspoon cinnamon
• 100 g butter, room temperature
• 300 g apples
Sprinkle
• 3 tsp cane sugar
How to:
Dough:
1. Cut the butter into small pieces and crumble it in the flour.
2. Add the egg and sugar. Gather the dough quickly without kneading it.
3. Place the dough in a refrigerator for a 30 minutes.
4. Roll out the dough and place in a greased pie dish.
Filling:
1. Coarsely grate the marzipan and whisk together with cinnamon, butter and eggs.
2. Distribute the marzipan filling evenly on the pie.
3. Thinly slice the apples and press them down in a fine pattern into the filling.
4. Sprinkle with a little cane sugar and bake the Marcipan Apple Pie in a preheated oven at 175 degrees for 30-35 minutes.
5. Serve the pie with whipped cream or crème fraiche.
