The lovely fragrance of lavender. The scent of summer. The scent of vacation. The scent of France. A scent that is more than welcome to stay in our house – long after bikinis and swimsuits are packed away.
With these nice little scent bags, small areas in the home, such as the wardrobe or bathroom, can at least keep the lovely scent a few more months. You can also place them under your pillow to help you get a restful nights sleep, due to the calming, relaxing properties of lavender.
Another benefit of the lavender satchel bags is that they keep moths away from your beautiful cashmere sweater, as lavender is well known for its moth deterring properties. It’s a win-win situation!
DIY
You will need:
• Approx. 1 dl dried lavender
• 2 pieces of 15x10cm fabric
• Matching thread
• Sewing machine
• Scissors
For the tassle:
• Thin yarn in matching color
• A piece of cardboard 10×10 cm
• Needle
How to:
1. Start by sewing the fragrance bag itself. Zigzaw all the edges.
2. Sew the pieces of fabric together – the right sides to each other. Keep a small opening in one of the short side to fill the bag with lavender.
3. Turn the bag right-side-out. Iron the bag.
4. Fill the bag with lavender. It does not have to be completely filled. Close the opening by hand sewing.
5. Now it’s time to make the tassel. Wrap yarn around the cardboard 40 times.
6. Cut a piece of yarn and tie in the top before removing the yarn from the cardboard piece.
7. Cut a new piece of yarn and tie around approx. 1cm down from the top so that it becomes a head on the tassel.
8. Cut ends of yarn. Trim tassel ends evenly. Adjust if necessary the length.
9. Attach to the corner of the sachet by hand sewing.
