Have you also noticed the trend of making smudge sticks? Apparently smudging is a big thing!

Cleaning up bad energy and inviting the positive into your home with help from incense is of course nothing new. But it wasn’t something we immediately thought about doing ourselves, until we saw a bunch of beautifully dried herbs on ABC Carpet & Home’s website.

As we move towards brighter days and spring inspires us even more to have a clean and tidy home, we wanted to try out this little DIY right away.

We took what we had available at home already, which was rosemary and lavender. But white sage, cedar, eucalyptus and rose petals are also great alternatives. Feel free to experiment and find your own favorite combination.

The smudge sticks themselves are pretty easy to make, by first trimming the flowers and herbs to an even size. Then wrap the herbs into a compact bunch. Use a piece of twine to tie and secure the bunch. Make sure to wrap the twine as tightly as you can so that it stays bound when the flowers dry and shrink.

Let the smudge stick dry for at least two weeks.

To use it – light one end of the bunch with a match. Let it burn for a short time, extinguish the flame and let it glow in a fireproof bowl. Remember to keep in sight.

Finally, extinguish the smoke under running water and set the smudge stick aside to dry. You can reuse the same smudge stick again and again, until there is nothing left to burn.

Let the good karma in! ❤️
