Who hasn’t tried to tremble when hungry and out on a fieldtrip? That shaky feeling where going one step further seems completely impossible. For children, this feeling can be quite overwhelming, and the most joyous outing can end in total chaos. This super energizing Trail Mix for adventurers can be a fast remedy to the problem, so adventurous and playful beings can continue the trip.

We also like to make the Trail Mix for kids birthday parties and other celebrations – like the “Woodland Magic” party from SEASONS E-Magazine.

If you get some trail mix leftovers – use it on top of your breakfast youghurt with some fresh berries (or you can make our quick and easy nut crunch).

Recipe

You will need:

• 80 g oatmeal
• 100 g quinoa (uncooked)
• 70 g chopped almonds
• 70 g chopped cashew nuts
• 60 g sunflower seeds
• 150 ml. peanut butter
• 100 ml. honey
• 1 tsp. cinnamon
• 1/2 tsp. cardamom
• 1 pinch of salt
• 1 cup raisins
• 100 g dark chocolate

How to:

  1. Roast quino, oatmeal, chopped nuts and sunflower seeds on a hot large pan. Stir constantly so that it doesn’t get burn.
  2. Melt peanut butter and honey in a saucepan and stir in cinnamon, cardamom and salt. Mix well.
  3. Pour the sauce over the roasted mixture in the pan and stir until everything is covered with the sauce.
  4. Finally stir in the raisins and the chopped chocolate.
  5. Pour the whole mix onto a baking tray covered with baking paper and allow to cool.
  6. Once the blend has cooled, divide it into pieces and fill small bags, ready to bring with you on small
    adventures.
