I’m a big fan of Asia and especially the continent’s many large cities such as Bangkok, Shanghai, Kuala Lumpur and Tokyo. So when I for the first time (finally) was on my way to Hong Kong, expectations were not just high, they were enormous. As always when I´m about to travel I had done my homework by reading travel books, blogs and trying to get some great inside tips from people who have been or lived there. I was top-loaded and expectant.
It only took a few hours on the ground of Hong Kong to convince me that all my expectations were going to be fulfilled and that I would not be dissapointed.
4 days later in a high tempo and lots of new impressions and experiences my conclusion was, Hong Kong delivers in every possible way.
Whether your visit to Hong Kong is a short stopby or if Hong Kong is your final destination, these are my tips for what this great metropolis has to offer and what I absolutely think is worth visiting.

Man Mo-templet

A small atmospheric temple. One of Hong Kong’s oldest.
Victoria Peak/Peak tram
33 Garden Rd, Central
Hong Kong Island´s highest point is best achieved by an almost vertical ascent with the Peak tram
Tsi tsui tem east promenade and walk of fame
Salisbury Rd, Tsim Sha Tsui
Skyscrapers, stars and Bruce Lee himself (or at least a statue of him), what´s not to like. Don´t miss the lightshow with the HSCB –building in focus, every night at eight. Best spot to see the show is from the walking bridge near the belfry.
Hong Kong Park
19 Cotton Tree Dr, Admiralty
8 hk park in the centre of the city.
Star Ferry
Probably the cheapest way to get an outstanding and an amazing view over the city.
Where to shop:
With lots of big shoppingmalls, almost a flea market for everything and lots of lovely small boutiques, I´m sure that Hong Kong won´t disappoint your shopping needs. Just try not to miss these:

This is where we stayed. A great middle-class hotel with a fantastic view.
Chungking Mansions
36-44 Nathan Rd, Tsim Sha Tsui
Cheap accommodation in a building that fits everything from Indian food to mobile telephone shops. Notorious stories of great fires and crime. You probably won´t stay here, but it´s worth a visit.
